Devastation in Haiti

How much more can the inhabitants of Haiti take? This nation, the first independent nation in the Caribbean region has suffered under brutal administrations and slight of hand assistance from the developed nations and numerous hurricanes and natural disasters. Now with this tragedy that has struck this nation again can we expect a change of attitude from the developed nations? It is my hope that we get some real change in the development of this "cursed nation".

"The earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 and was centered about 10 miles (15 kilometers) west from the Caribbean nation’s capital of Port-au-Prince, the USGS said. It had a depth of five miles (8 kilometers). Also issuing an immediate response was US President Barack Obama who said his prayers are with the people of Haiti and the United States government is monitoring the situation and stands ready to assist in the coming days. An Associated Press videographer saw the wrecked hospital in Petionville, near Port-au-Prince, and a US government official reported seeing houses that had tumbled into a ravine. No further details on any casualties or other damage were immediately available."
