Dah Wuk | Kes the Band | Trinidad & Tobago 2019

The wait is over, the hype is over and today we drop the very first music release for Carnival 2019 from KES the Band. This is an N.M.G. Music production (Nikholai Greene) entitled, "Dah Wuk"(working hard to get that dance groove on). Kes the Band (more-so Kees Dieffenthaller) fans will be ecstatic for and with this music release but we feel differently and fans of the artiste and band may not be happy with our lukewarm acceptance for this song. So let's get to it...

First off, Kees is a very likable person... he walks the walk and to put it in a 'true Trini term, he is a real 'saltfish kind of guy'. Now having said that, it is kind of a difficult to say anything negative about Kees or Kees the band. However, we have to critique what we hear and the first thing I noted was the unimpressive introduction to the song...  it is a carnival music release! The initial hit should have some impact to set the stage for what should come next! Of course, this song will be ideal for that sweet wine! This is a Groove Soca song that will find favor with those who love to take that sweet, in control, love wine. If you love making love to the music then this will fit the bill, that is a credit to the song.

The lyrical content of the song is all about the sexuality of that sweet wine! Everything, the sweet appealing code of conduct for making and achieving that sweet groove was written into the song. The intention was achieved. Kees delivered the vocal that he is noted for... he knows how to appeal to the ladies!

The production was a good one but, just when you start to get into the song, as the groove takes hold of your body, the song is over; I felt cheated! Is this a good song? Of course, it is, after all, Kes the Band, and they can do no wrong! Now, having said that, we can only afford this song a seven out of ten, you got that right, 7/10!

We don't expect to be liked for this post but we can't have a flowery discourse where this one is concerned. We give credit where credit is due. We like the song but they did not hit it out of the park. Kudos for giving us a good song... now we need "Hello" greatness!
