Those who have been in search for information regarding the prize structure for the Calypso Monarch competition 2013 would be please to learn that the government in keeping the prize structure used for Carnival 2012. This is good news for the Calypsonians who have now been overshadowed by the Soca artiste especially with regard to radio airplay and prize structure.
The Calypso Fiesta is scheduled to take place on Saturday 2nd February 2013 at Skinner's Park (start time is 12:00 noon). On this day 40 Calypsonians will compete for a place in the Calypso finals on "Terrific Thursday". The date for this competition is 02/07/2013 (Thursday February 7, 2013). Those who attend the finals will also be able to take part in what is called the "Big Fiesta Party Jam" after the competition is over.

For the Calypso Monarch, the prize structure for this year stands at $1 million for first place. Last year, after the Calypsonians protested due to the fact that the Soca Monarch was receiving two million, the prize was increased from $500,000 to $1 million, therefore this figure has been retained.
