Scratchy Cocoa | Yuh is ah Trini!

Yuh is ah Trini | "Scratchy Cocoa."

"Dat boy to damn nasty... he always scratching he coco".  I guess you aware of what is said and how it is said, and even the context in which it is said can convey various meanings to a very simple statement. Take the Trini saying, 'Scratchy Cocoa' or to put it in writing to so that the pronunciation is close to what is said on the island is close to the words pouring out of a local islander 'scratchy coco'. Now don't be shy just try and recall your childhood days on the island. 'Coco and Cocolits' have been used over the years to refer to a boy's penis. We will not get into the words used to describe the adult Male's penis - that could be considered X-rated!

Trinis have a lot of peculiar sayings and to be honest 'Scratchy Cocoa' is a reference to the male or man scratching his genitals simply because 'he too damn nasty' and did not take the time to clean his penis. Yes 'Scratchy Cocoa' is a reference to the man's penis but an unclean penis!

Hold on just a minute now. I just remembered some childhood flashes that could help with this situation. However, this is not a statement to make things right or to excuse nastiness, OK!

As children, we used to head to the forest and without thinking dive into the river basin and have a lot of fun. Sometime later some kids ended up with ailments like ringworm. This is a very nasty skin infection that could lead to intense itching and, as a result, severe scratching... if you got it in your groin area then 'crapo smoke yuh pipe'.

Now some of you may recall 'ground itch'. This one usually affects the toes especially if you had a really stinking pair of watchekongs or crepsoles (back in the day references to nasty sneakers). If you scratched between your toes or those watery bubbles and did not wash your hands with some blue, brown, sunlight or carbolic soap or even lux or Palmolive and then interfere with your groin (like running to make a leak) then, once again, all hell will break loose a few days later.

Dry skin or even chafing of the areas between your legs could lead to the scratchy cocoa syndrome. Don't let this happen to you... shower mornings and evenings and make sure that you 'handle yuh stories correctly'.

As you can tell I had some time to waste but this was done just for fun. However, if it did help you remember the good ole days and it made you laugh then I accomplished my goal... have a good night!

Now here is a little 'Cocoa Song' for you to listen to and smile or simply get pissed off with me for posting this song to accompany this post... I think that it is funny!
