However, after doing some research I realized that she has more releases that, after listening, I decided to add to the post. This is a very disjointed post because I kept coming back to it because I was not satisfied with the post especially after interacting with someone named "Shaqdiesel" on Islandmix; I decided to 'listen to the music again'. However, this time I did not just pass over the songs. The problem I had when I first listened to the music was a simple one... I didn't (and still) know the artiste. However, I decided to take a listen again but this time I tried to remove my Trinidad bias (not easy since we are so spoilt in Trinidad). I have to admit that there is something special about "Shakki" but I won't give her full marks yet... surely she will be a force to reckon with and in years to come (with proper marketing) and will eventually have an impact on the Soca drenched Trinidad market. Let us not forget that, in the Caribbean region, Trinidad and Tobago is the place to measure your talents. Having said that, I do know that you don't have to make it in Trinidad to become successful in the Soca business - many have done it outside of Trinidad and so too can "Shakki"!
My original posting stated that I found something missing in the music. However, I realized that for each Island there is a pulse that even though we don't initially feel, it does eventually become evident. In the case of Shakki, she carries the vibe of her people and will find the success that she deserves. I look forward to reading about her success in future shows and also to see her do her thing in Trinidad and Tobago.
"We Losing It (Crazy, Crazy)" has been released for the St. Kitts-Nevis Carnival that is known as "Sugar Mas". This festival takes place in November... that is this month and you will be hard-pressed to hear this song played on any radio station in Sweet TnT! This promo is for my Trinidadian people who don't know about "Shakki" and to allow them to preview her songs before the Trini Radio stations put them on rotation. So remember the name of the song, the music is fast and you better take your energy booster because St.Kitts-Nevis Soca Diva Jacinth "Shakki" Cao belts out this one with energy for several Carnivals. Once again remember the name of the song: "We Losing It (Crazy, Crazy). It was produced by Kelvin "DJ Kells" Christopher of SKN Entertainment Studios. DJ Kells is a well known radio personality who is now producing and promoting the music of his homeland. "We Losing It" should be a big one for the Sugar Mas 40:40 extravaganza.
