Iron Love | Nailah Blackman ft. Laventille Rhythm Section | Trinidad & Tobago 2019

It was a googlie... damn, you were totally mesmerized at the batting crease! Don't feel bad, because that is exactly how we feel after listening to this song... lost for words! This is new music for Trinidad and Tobago carnival entitled, "Iron Love" sung by Nailah Blackman.

I am listening to the song so it cannot be Nailah's teasing sexy eyes that bowled me over! No, then move on brother!  We have to deal with the vocals, the lyrical content and the music.
This is the heart and soul of any discussion when I sit and listen to a song... this is a case of the trinity listening. No, not that trinity but as the Trini saying,  "me, myself and I" getting to understand a song and feeling a vibe!

That is a tricky one, "feelin' ah vibe", "feelin' ah feelin'". Sometimes words can't express the inner feelings but a facial expression or a movement of the body, as the music plays, will surely be an indication of "feelin' ah vibe"! This song does that and we have to credit the creative processes that took place to hone in of Ras Shorty I aka Lord Shorty song entitled "Cory Iron". The idea, the concept for Iron Love was born. The creative minds of Nailah and Anson brought that project to life and for that, we can dance happily for Carnival 2019.

Something has to be said about  Nailah's vocals. In the past, I had difficulty understanding what she was saying. Her enunciation confused me... but that has changed! Now that I can better understand what she says I can relate to the song differently. This is not just about the music anymore but a combination of talent which bodes well for both the artiste and producer.

Lyrical content... Mical Teja, Lord Shorty, Nailah Blackman, and Anson Soverall. Hold on now, don't get in a tizzy, Lord Shorty was not there in body to assist with the writing of the song. Cory Iron was there in spirit to lend some lyrical content and direction for this rebirth of 'Cory Iron' out of that gritty and dutty, but sweet like honey, brake drum we call 'de iron"! Creative juices flowed with decades of iron stories told in a few lines of imaginative text. She brought it, the writing team brought and the production flourished because of the all the creative talent involved... sweeter than honey when he 'lick 'de pan'!

The music... damn Anson! Lord Shorty must be smiling and knocking some iron in the spiritual realm. The spiritual vibe from the Laventille Rhythm section must have caused earth tremors from the heart of the cemetery where Lord Shorty rests. This song was like a wedding ceremony, a beautiful thing to behold where he took something old (Cory Iron and literally old iron sounds) and something new (a new generation of music) and made Naila Blackman a rising star to reckon with... not in the future but now!

Kudos to everyone involved with the production of Iron Love. It is a work of art... just like the poster that came out to highlight the new music release. We love it and know that you will feel the same. Enjoy!
