This is another new music release from the Kickstand Riddim for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2018. From Good Up, Good Up by Problem Child (SVG carnival 2018) to the newly minted Shal Marshall's 'Party We Love' we conclude this new music segment with a song entitled 'Like It Hot' by the sensual princess of Trinidad's Soca, Patrice Roberts. Oh my, she likes it hot... but did this one live up to expectations? Let's do this...

There is no doubt that Patrice, performing on stage, will be able to add the visuals that will sell this song. However, we are just dealing with audio for this posting. We have already given kudos to the production team... this Riddim is full of musical niceness! On the musical arrangement/vibe side of this production we have a winner but what about the lyrical content and vocal delivery. Patrice on the vocal side did not disappoint but for some reason, I could not connect with the song on the story-line level. Nice vibes, but nothing from the vocals/lyrical content hooked me (no substance/story). Of course, some may say, "I like it hot" is enough to engage the audience but people want more from today's Soca Stars. Patrice said it over and over again... she likes it hot! OK, we get it and if you are into party decadence this could be your anthem. Of course, I could be wrong about this song's impact and this may come back and bite me in the fanny. Why do I think so?  Simply put, it is because some songs have a way of 'growing on the listener'. I will take my chances and say, good song but not one that will survive the season as the deluge of new music hits the airwaves.

So there you go, we are sure that Patrice's fans will not agree with this point of view and we welcome their comments.
