We have picked up on a song that was released for Crop Over 2018. We think that this one will be played for Trinidad and Tobago carnival 2019 because it was cleverly written with tongue in cheek wit. The song is entitled "Hole" sung by Jus D. Hole was penned for the 'Icki Wiki Riddim' with some crafty play on words. "Hole" is a  well-written song with a double entendre musical sleight of hand. We love it!

We applaud the lyrical content simply because there was a thought process to create some sweet clever lyrical content. So many singers simply jump on riddims with weak lyrical content; this is not the case for 'Hole'. The music is sweet (pay attention to the sweet guitar works on the song) but we would have loved a little more open sound/prominence coming out of the high hat on the vibe.

Wait, "the rubber tear out and the oil, it leaking down in de hole"... (insert a mischievous smile here 😉), lord have mercy! Another hole taking the blame eh... well people if you are creative with your writing skills then the process will lead you to lyrical content that will raise an eyebrow or two. Then again, saying one thing but leading others to think about other things simply means that you did a damn good job putting together something that grabs the attention of the listener. This one is a teaser for sure and as part of this public discourse, we have to advise our readers. As a reminder to those who plan to use this excuse... this is not the dog ate my homework excuse! Think twice before ending up in the dog-house.

Bonus Track Plus Notes:
Jon Deesy (producer/DJ, HOTT 95.3 FM, Bridgetown):
“This was everywhere in Barbados — radio stations of varying formats, parties, kids’ phones, malls... you name it. At almost every major show this summer, Jus D was a headline performer. It developed into an anthem for the ladies, because of the song’s message: ‘Raise your hand if you don’t need a manager / You only need a man who can manage you.’ Women latched on quickly, and from there it blew up. We all know that usually if the ladies catch on, the fellas aren't too far behind.”
