Imani Ray, born in Queens New York with Trinidadian roots, has embraced the music of her parent's culture singing sweet Soca songs. Today we present a song entitled, "Doh Stick" on the Orange Peel Riddim. This lady has a smooth style showing the potential to do well in the ever increasing field of new artistes.

"Doh Stick" is a 'nice groove' but will need a lot of work to make an impact on the Trinidad music scene. If they don't make the rounds at the local radio stations then this song may get a play but will not be on rotation. The song is out as "Doe Stick" and that may be the case to differentiate the song from a Farmer Nappy song with the same name (Doh Stick 2014). Farmer Nappy's song is a Power Soca vibe while Imani's song works in the Groove Soca category.

Doh Stick, don't stick, don't hesitate, you can pick one but it all comes down to seizing the moment. Imani is all about action and warns against inaction from the other side of the relationship. A promising song but we feel that this song lacks something... it is sweet, a little too sweet and needs to be rough on the edges vocally just as she demands while lecturing her man in the song. Her vocal style is a bit too mellow; she did not tease me and rope into the conversation. Does she have potential? Oh, hell yes she does! We wish her well and much success on this musical journey.
