This is new music coming out of Saint Lucia released in time for consideration for Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival. The name of the singer is Imran Nerdy and the song is entitled "Behind The Big Truck". The young singer from Castries Saint Lucia is also jumping on the Big Truck theme (quite a few big truck songs for Carnival 2014) following on the heels of Bunji Garlin's "Truck On D Road". Not bad company to keep but does the young man live up to the hype? Let's find out...
OK, let's get to it immediately... when I first listened to the song I quickly sensed potential for the vibe. The "Pure Nature Riddim" is a nice vibe coming out of "Hitz Song Recordz". However, as the song progressed I had a little difficulty with the singer's diction. The vocals became difficult to understand but then again I am sure that the younger followers get every word Nerdy belted out behind that big truck.
I feel like Nerdy short-changed himself because this song has potential and could have done really well in Trinidad. However, as mentioned previously, I had difficulty understanding what he was actually saying/his diction was a bit muddy. This is not a condemnation of the song or the singer. This young man is going to become a star in Saint Lucia and with a few adjustments can make his mark on the rest of the Caribbean diaspora. Change is inevitable and sometimes if we look in the mirror and make a few changes then maybe everything will work out just right. Nerdy is a star on the rise... we will keep an eye on the young man and will welcome future songs for posting on Zagada!
