Sigh... this is new music from Patrice Roberts produced by Dream Team Music. Did you notice my "sighs" at the opening of the conversation? Well you may have guessed it but I can't help it with these tired cliché lyrics that propels Soca today! What do we have here... really what do we have here? We have a very talented singer and well produced music - yes the music is really good but the lyrical content is so tired and played out - enough now!
The whole idea of the sexual nature of Soca lyrics comes into focus immediately. Even if you roll back to the Calypsonians and their use of 'double entendre' this one simply does not make you think much to understand what Patrice wants the guy to "Pong up for meh"! Seriously now is that what they think the public wants to hear in order to make a song work? If you simply love good music then this one has it. If you want to hear a very good female vocalist then this one also has it. However, this is not the song you want your children listening to and dancing too at home or on the road on Carnival day. Now don't tell me that the song is for adults because the young people know the songs long before the adults even know that the song is out there! Simply put the sexual theme is too prominent and the writers attempt to tie it all in with the steel-pan was very weak!
