Oh Yeah | Fayann Lyons | Trinidad & Tobago 2014

This is new music from Fayann Lyons Alvarez and from what I heard all I can say initially is that this is indeed an interesting time for music in Trinidad and Tobago. Some may ask what is happening but all I can say is that the artists are experimenting and 'spreading their musical wings'. This is indeed what Fayann has done with this latest release entitled "Oh Yeah".  She is exploring and reinventing her musical experiences using music styles that work well with the beat we call Soca and that augers well for our continuously developing music.

There are those who will criticize Fayann and the new song remarking that they don't understand the direction that she is taking the music but pay attention, she is mixing it up with Soca and the alternative vibe. However, who is to say that these artists don't have the right to explore the musical horizons.... there is so much out there to conquer. I applaud Fayann for joining those whom have emboldened themselves to try something new. It is amazing that people are finding fault in the new music... this is the same thing that happened when Lord Shorty experiments led to what is known as Soca today even if the music has changed and is not the same that Shorty named and pioneered. Change is here... embrace it or be the one left on the side complaining and fighting a lost cause.

So Fayann has decided that "Oh Yeah" it is time to get excited and go all night and party right. If you listen to the music you will realize that the Carnival theme is intact but this is one that will vibe just right in the club scene. I have no hesitation is saying that this is one that the progressive radio stations will grab and wheel and give some serious air play. I love this vibe but it is not something that those who believe in the "ole school style" will appreciate. This is the way ahead and trust me this song will be a big hit in parties/fetes in Trinidad and Tobago.

The music was produced by Mezzo Forte Records (Castries Saint Lucia) and I am sure that they are not sitting by and wondering if this one will 'stick'. The question is how big will this one be for Trinidad and Tobago's carnival 2014. This song has potential to cross over and become a hit in Europe where they appreciate the West Indian vibe. This party mix should do really well.
