If Daddy Was Here | Dundeal Grant/Jam Band | USVI 2013

If you love brass and the way Carnival music should really be heard/played then you will love this song from this very famous group of musicians out of the U.S.V.I. Jam Band is an awesome group of musicians who can mash up any fete/carnival parade. This song vocalized by Dundeal Grant with Jam Band pays tribute to the late Nicholas "Daddy" Friday. Who was Nick Friday? Well he was the band leader, vocalist and composer of the Jam Band (he also had a law degree). Listen to the song as these guys pay tribute to one of their own.

As mentioned before the song is a tribute the man  and one can feel a joy in the music as it unfolds full of life, vibe and enthusiasm. What I like about the song (this is typical of music produced by Jam Band) is the use of the brass in the music. The use of brass in music today is a lost art in Trinidad and Tobago. Brass is sweet and adds so much 'Musical Color" to any vibe. This song was released on the album "V.I. Madness" for St. Thomas Carnival 2013 and fits into this early presentation of music for Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival 2014. I promised to feature music from the U.S.V.I. and if music is good it is damn well good enough to post anytime! Get used to the names of these U.S.V.I. bands... Spectrum Band and now you can vibe with Jam Band!

Listen to the song and feel good listening to music with serious brass vibes and rhythms to make you dance and jump up. This is serious carnival music... tun up the vibes Jam Band!
