"Gimme That" is the latest release from Mrs Fayann Lyons-Alvarez for Trinidad and Tobago's 2014 Carnival. It is still early but these artists are dropping songs every weekend. This song follows her previously released track titled "Done D Party". This song is done in a very lazy chip style; it does not provide any energy or excitement but takes you to a very laid back late party feeling. Then again, if you listen well, this song can feel really good on carnival day as you chip with some sours clouding your senses! This is one for the road...
Once again, Fayann has gone outside of Trinidad and Tobago to produce her music. Her previous track was done by Stadic Studio Production and Wetty Beatz (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) while this one was produced in Barbados. I am still waiting to hear a collaboration with Trinidad and Tobago producers. It appears these artists are spreading their wings and using production teams outside of Trinidad and Tobago.
OK, now about the song. I am sure that Fayann's followers may love this song but in my humble opinion this one will end up as an album filler. Why? Simply put, I have a feeling that people will sleep on this song. However, if you pause and listen you will find that this is a sweet track - a real carnival jam session track. Surely it will provide a nice rhythm to chip with on the road but in terms of hit making chances I have a feeling that they will have to do some serious promotions to get it out there. It augers well that Fayann has already released two songs for next year's festival. In the past she was labeled lazy because she was not productive with multiple releases. Let's hope that Bunji rubs off on her so that we can be blessed with at least six songs from Fayann for Carnival 2014.
