No man is an island and not because this is Trinidad and Tobago's time to showcase the musical talents of our Soca and Calypso artists there are other islands producing and featuring good music. This one featured here today is from the very popular band known as "Spectrum Band" and the featured song is entitled "Blame It (On Deh Rum).  Music from the USVI has always been good but relatively unknown/not played in Trinidad - that needs to change!

The featured singer on the track is Malvern Gumbs and from the production notes one can see that he was heavily involved as an artist and in the creation and production of the song.  I think that you will like what you hear. Let me put it this way this song, with the right promotion, can do extremely well in Trinidad (first major carnival for 2014). We are doing our part here on Trinizagada - tell your friends about this track they will love it for sure!

The musical style is different from what you will hear from the new releases coming out of Trinidad and Tobago for Carnival 2014. This song has a more traditional feel to the music and that may sound very refreshing to many Soca music lovers. The story behind the song is also one that many 'feters' can relate to with much regret (if only blaming it on the liquor could solve the problems that follow). 

I have to note that this song came to my attention on islandmix.com (link back to the original post) on a post created by Socapro.
