It is a tie! Machel Montano HD and Austin 'Super Blue' Lyons finished in first place in the Power Soca category of the International Soca Monarch Competition last night at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Trinidad. The much anticipated battle of the Student and the Teacher came down to 'I told you so' result because the judges could not separate the two artists. As a result they will share bragging rights because of the title split!
This is one show that really came across well and the artists were the one who brought the energy that was missing for Groovy Soca category. The power Soca segment did not disappoint at all and it was amazing that the show that many said did not have the talent saved the night. In the end the stage was set for the man everyone waited to see Austin "Super Blue" Lyons. The stadium erupted went wild when Machel performed but the sea of humanity simply moved in unity when Super Blue performed. It was one of those performances that you would talk about for years for many different reasons. The people were fantastic and relished the moment however the performances, thought they captivated the audience and shook the stadium, were not stellar.

The people went crazy when the cow horn sounded. Super Blue had the crowd behind him and his performance was electric; then came the results! Dead heat, the judges could not separate Machel Montano HD and Super Blue - it was not a split decision in terms of close finishes; it was simply a split result with both singers sharing bragging rights of Power Soca Monarch of Trinidad & Tobago!
