Stephen Marcelle Wins The 2013 Young Kings Monarch TnT

Last night the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC) held the annual Young Kings Calypso Monarch Competition at the Queen's Hall in St. Anns Trinidad. Stephen Marcelle won the competition from a field of nineteen contestants with his song titled "Politics Does Spoil D'Lime". The top ten  places and the songs they sang are listed below; there was a tie for tenth place. The winning song is posted for your listening pleasure after the listing of the top ten (actually eleven) places.

Never argue about Politics and Religion because either one will create problems and spoil a good lime. Now you can do like Steven Marcelle and sing about it and not spoil the lime but instead bring about raptous applaue. That applause would be for a job well done and with that comes the praise and coronation of the Young Kings Calypso Crown or as they say today 'Monarch'. Amid the applause there were eighteen other contestants who would state clearly that Steven Marcelle did indeed "Spoil De Lime".

It was a good night for Calypso and many who attended came away very satisfied that the art form is in good hands. The only problem or some may say a cause for concern was that the winner of this competition will not get the opportunity to participate in the Calypso Fiesta on Saturday February 2, 2013 at Skinner's Park in San Fernando.
