Black Stalin Say | Kurt Allen | Trinidad Carnival 2013

This is the latest release from "The Last Badjohn of Calypso" titled 'Black Stalin Say' and it is a very good one indeed. As a matter of fact, I will go on record and state that he should sing this song at the Calypso Fiesta instead of 'Political Sin-Phony'. I am serious as a heart attack about this!

'Political Sin-Phony' is a well crafted Calypso but it is the type of Calypso to sit back and listen; it may fly over the head of the Skinner's Park crowd on Saturday February 2, 2013. On the other hand, 'Black Stalin Say' has the melodic structure to get the crowd involved; more importantly, the lyrics/message in the song is easily understood. He should go with this song instead of the previously mentioned 'Political Sin-Phony'.

I cringe at the though that 'Political Sin-Phony' may not move the audience and may cause Kurt to watch the finals at home. Is 'Political Sin-Phony' hard hitting? Yes, it is but it does not have the vibe to get the audience involved as would 'Black Stalin Say'. I wish Kurt Allen all the best but I have my doubts about Kurt winning the title with 'Political Sin-Phony'. Now if he sings 'Black Stalin Say' we may have a Monarch title to celebrate for Carnival 2013!

I have added the previously mentioned song 'Political Sin-Phony' for your listening pleasure but more so for your assessment regarding the better song to sing for the competition. Take a listen and judge for yourself!

If the judges can not get the message, then they do not need to be judges. As for the crowd, the results is determined in the reaction of the crowd. are the trini puplic that dense, that they could only understand simple "JAM & WINE" calypsos.

I agree 100%. Was thinking about this as soon as i saw the song he was listed to sing. Though, he may feel that if he only has one shot for people to hear a song, he'll go with sin-phony. After all, a finals place is not guaranteed.
