Trinidadian | KES The Band | Trinidad Carnival 2013

"Trinidadian" by KES The Band is the latest offering from this very popular group of musicians from sweet TnT. I understand the concept of the song but it simply does not work for me. This does not mean to say that it won't makes waves or the song will not be a hit for this production after all, this is 'KES The Band'!  It should also be noted that they are enjoying successful International promotions these days; in other words, their fan base just can't seem to get enough of these guys!

Those who love to listen to Kees Dieffenthaller sing with the band KES may think differently, but this song just feels ordinary and will not have any impact for Trinidad and Tobago's Carnival 2013.

I am absolutely certain that the pace of this song pleased most listeners who were waiting for a fast paced song from KES, the band. Added to the pace is the fact that this song has a sort of Island Pop vibe and pulsating driving rhythm that is typical of Carnival songs.

Added to the above, this song celebrates what makes most Trinidadians come across as pompous and arrogant.... we love ourselves and our culture so much that it irritates the rest of the Caribbean nations. They already think that we feel that we know it all when it comes to Carnival, feting and Soca... now we have to tell them about feting like ah "Trinidadian". Trinis will love it and it may gain traction when KES return home to party and get on bad but as it stands now there are too many songs out there for me to give this one a check mark as the one to watch... I don't feel it like that!

Lyrics:
The writer of this one celebrates the Trinidadian Carnival Spirit but at the same time will bring contemptuous verbal outrage - keep an eye on islandmix for reactions.

Vocals:
This does not sound like one of the better singing performance from Kees. I sounds like he was a bit on the high end a bit too much.

Music/Production:
This is the pace that people were looking for and the producers delivered. The steel-pan was well played in this one with the tenor pan leading the pack and standing out in the music production. If you like pace then this one hit the spot.

Replay Worthiness/Lasting Appeal:
I have my doubts about the longevity of this track. I am certain that because it was done by the band KES that it will receive radio play. I don't feel it would be a hit for Carnival 2013.
