Soca Luv | Kyle | Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2013

'Soca Luv' is a very relaxed, smooth track that rides on the fringes of the Soca rhythm and falls within the category of what can be considered Groovy Soca. It uses true to form traditional Soca lyrics of 'wining and grinding' but attempts to ride on the edge of very relaxed Caribbean rhythm with an Afrocentric lead guitar and a New Age dream-scape vibe as the track locks down the final vibe. Did they try to be too slick with this one? You will have to be the judge of that!

I don't know how this track will fit into the frenetic pace/vibe of what is considered Carnival music. This sounds more like a song for a house party than something that will have any impact on a Carnival fete scene. I like the vibe and the idea behind the production but I don't see this song having any impact for Carnival 2013.

It is obvious that this guy has a smooth singing style but I did not get a good feel for his range with this song.  I do like the music production but the concept may be outside the scope of what is considered Carnival music.  I have to say that I enjoyed listening to the song; however, it is one for relaxing/chilling with someone rather than for 'playing yuhself in a fete scene'.
