I am so pleased that Ahtik chose to provide a resurgence (Redux) of this very sweet Asti Riddim. Today we have the rebirth of one of my favorite songs on the original Asti Riddim. The song is Rumors sung by Yankeyboy but this time they gave it a Chutney twist. They did not deviate much but kept the essence of the riddim and added a Chutney accent that simply spiced up the vibe on the track.
This song just works. The music is sweet and the lyrics will surely put a smile on your face. Yankeyboy's performance is on track and he does a wonderful job as he did on the original track.
Pros:
The Asti Riddim is a boss riddim and deserves to be heard. Now we have a twist to the riddim with the addition of a Chutney rhythm accent. It just works and Yankeyboy is just as good the second time around with Rumors.
Cons:
Damn if the original Asti Riddim was not released for Summer 2012 and held back for Trinidad 2013 I am sure that it would have been a major hit. This redux version of Rumors will do for now and I hope the radio stations pick up on this track and all the songs on the original Asti Riddim.
