Bunji Garlin is the Man! "Differentology" is the latest release from the Black Spaniard and it is a track that no one can complain about it not being Soca because it is not! This is an alternative riddim of and for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2013. The music has a Euro feel to it and should do well for the European Carnival sessions next year.
The lyrics are Carnival vibe lyrics but the music is something different, something I like to call 'Alternative TriniVibe'. One cannot mistake the fact that this is a festive song that takes the Carnival masquerading scene and paints it in a different but lush musical palette. This is another feel for Trinidad and Tobago Carnival music and if you look at the jacket for the song it says it all: AHA!

This song has a special, very special and distinctive Spanish guitar that can be heard adding sweetness to this very different style of Carnival music. The Spanish Guitar playing highlighted on the track was done by Nigel Rojas - excellent musicianship! The sound of the guitar is unique and adds lustre/vibrancy to the sound of this surprise rendition from Ian Alvarez aka Bunji Garlin. The more I listen to this song the better it sounds!

We cannot forget the people responsible for the production of the very innovative musical track. This is a production of Sheriff Music/J-Rod Records for Black Ice Studios. I love the lyrics and the guitar playing on the track is so sensual and hypnotic at the same time. There is something haunting about this musical treat with its pounding bass line and musical embellishments. Well done Ian... I have always been a fan and this track cements your status as supreme artiste on this blog. 

Now when everyone starts to shout that this is not a Carnival vibe then all I have to say is listen to the music being released today... everything is changing! You can be a part of history and embrace the new vibe or part ways with the change that is already here. My advice to you is simply this... embrace the change!
