Saturday August 25 Events Calender | Trinidad 2012

If you are in the home land and don't have any plans for tomorrow well take a look at the list of events taking place. I have no doubt that you will find something to attend. The big event takes place tomorrow night when ten calypsonians compete for the title of Independence Calypso Monarch of Trinidad and Tobago. This year the commemorates the Jubilee Independence celebration with the name of the first winner of this competition, Lord Bryner. The show will be streamed live over the internet via audio and video feeds. WACK Radio 90.1 FM will carry an audio feed while CTV should carry the video/audio transmission. 

Community Celebrations - Independence Folk Festival
This is an all day event that takes place at the Academy for Performin g Arts in Port-of-Spain and San Fernando. Activities include the following:
Indepndence Folk Festival
Folk Theatre/Folk Presentation
La Reine Rive Competition Finals

Independence Cycle Classics ‘The Unity Race’
This is an all day event that originally started on August 23 and concludes on August 26, 2012. Locations for these races are as follows:

Stage 2 – Noel Lucas Stage – San Fernando-NAPA
Stage 3 – Leslie King Stage – Circuit Race – Arima
Stage 4 – Laurie Rogers State – 85 km Road Race – Chaguaramas –Toco
Stage 5 – Nathan Hajal State – 110km Road Race – POS–San Fernando-POS

Tattoo 2012  Trinidad and Tobago, Conquerabia Spear and Drum
This is an all day event and takes place at the following venues:
Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad
Military skills, drills and thrills. Local and Foreign performers
Admission- Free
25th August-Children's show 5:00pm- 8:00pm
Visit the tatoo village 20th-26th Agust 2012 at Woodford Square Port-of-Spain

International Cricket Festivals- Twenty20 for 50 Cricket Festival
Cricket lovely cricket: This is an all day event

Queen’s Park Cricket Oval – “20/20 for 50”
2 games daily 
Tickets available at Sports and Games Outlets and Queen's Park Oval Ticket Office
adults $100/day
Children under 10 free but must be ticketed. Limited number of children's tickets available

The 50th Anniversary of Independence Lord Bryner National Calypso Competition
This event takes place at the Grand Stand of the Queens Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain. This is going to the featured event for the day and for the Calypso community until carnival 2913 rolls around again. Over 170 Calypsonians participated in this event. The finals will feature 10 Calypsonians.
