"Wine & Go Down" | Kevin Lyttle

Last night Kevin Lyttle had a 'vodcast' to launch the video for his latest music release "Wine and Go Down". This artist from St. Vincent whose rise to fame came when he sang "Turn Me On" expects to repeat that success with this latest release. Does it make the grade? I don't think it does!
Kevin's music is a fusion of various music genres from the Caribbean and the US; both Kevin and his fans believe that this style is the right  formula for success on the international music scene. After the success of TMO he chose to go on tour instead of producing new music. This may end up biting him in the behind. Not all music fans can wait years for new music!

If you do not not 'drop new music' regularly the fans may easily forget your previous success. He uses a flavor of R&B with overtones of Dancehall and Soca that his Caribbean supporters label as Soca music. However, Kevin Lyttle's fusion-style music is not the traditional Soca rhythm usually heard or detected in Caribbean Soca music scene, especially the music of Trinidad and Tobago. Now his fans really don't care much about that but you can never discard your roots (your base support) and hope for continued success.
Wine and Go Down is very laid-back song and one that caters for those in the mood for a groovy track with a Dancehall lyrical style (also done by Kevin Lyttle). I don't see this song making any waves... especially in the Caribbean region. Kevin waited too long to release new music and this attempt will not impact the North American or even the Caribbean music scene. A good test will be the upcoming St. Vincent and the Grenadines Carnival. Let's see if Kevin will have any impact on that festival as compared to Bomani or Skinny Fabulous. It is an OK song but will never have the impact of Turn Me On...
