"Leech" | Kenyba

Whenever a new artiste puts out work there are those who would be critical of the work and, of course, there will be those who support the artiste for various reasons. I have been following the posts on Islandmix regarding the release of Kenyba Precious McLean song titled "Leech. Will she get the airplay needed to promote the song or will will it be just another song released and looked over by many?

On Islandmix most to the people commenting feel that the song is lacking 'something'. I listened to the song and even though I like it I don't expect it to be a hit back home. Kenyba is a born Trinidadian who lives in NYC. Kenyba migrated to the US in 1996 where she continued her focus on the performing arts. She is also a pannist and loves her native culture.

She is originally from the town of Arima (my hometown) and was always interested in singing as per her bio information posted on YouTube and Reverbnation. Kenyba's official Reverbnation page can be viewed at the following link: Reverbnation/Kenybamclean

This coming Carnival season is blessed with very good new music so it will be difficult to make inroads with so many good songs coming from the better known singers out there. This song Leech is one that most women will understand and like. It should get it fair share of airplay but she will need to go home and do some serious promotions at the radio stations. She needs to get her name out there. As a fellow Arimian I am doing my part by featuring her song here. Enjoy it!

Here is a clip from her YouTube information:
"With a heavy release schedule set for 2011-2012, Kenyba is definitely a new voice worth listening to. Her latest release, "Leech" is the new ladies anthem for all who have been pestered by the "leech" man who will not take no for an answer. This crowd pleaser is a result of her great song writing ability, and production by Tony "The Mad Architect" Brown. It is available on Trinidadtunes.com, Itunes, and everywhere digital downloads are sold. Keep an eye out on this songstress, before you blink she will be bigger than life."
